This one is out of place for sure, but I really enjoyed it so wanted to throw it up for people who may visit my blog. I watch the news and sift through numerous news outlets on the web all the time and you begin to loose sight of what makes people good. This is that something that lets you breathe a little easier, I could not help but smile when the kids started to dance. Enjoy.

Stripes are easy!

This being a new blog for me I am still sprucing up the design here and there. I wanted to give some interest to the background rather than just a blank white. So I decided I would tile some stripes for the back ground, but I could not make it to easy for myself so horizontal or vertical stripes were out. I set to work and after about half an hour I figured out how to do a fairly good stripe repeat tile. The stripes were tilted 45 degrees and were not the exact shade and color I was looking for, and I thought the exact 45 degree angle was not exactly what I was after either. So I hoped on google and searched for some stripe tile tutorials. That is when I came across my saving grace www.stripegenerator.com. Up until then I had been killing myself calculating numbers of stripes, angles, and a good half page of math, but all that changed when I found the stripe generator. The ease of use this web application has is fantastic. It keeps what should be a simple thing to accomplish, to being a simple thing to accomplish. I would just like to thank them for saving me a good couple hours of work, and countless hours of future work.
Cleanest graffitti ever?

Here is an article I ran across from Inhabitat.com. The images are actually cleaned from the wall rather than painted onto the wall. It is very impressive the way the texture of the wall works with this art.

The pieces were done by Paul Curtis aka “Moose”, here is an article about him also on inhabitat.com that goes into his reverse graffitti. This particular piece was comissioned by Greenworks, which is actually a subsidiary of Clorox. I think this is a brilliant advertising idea on their part.

I think the art is very tasteful and a vast improvement over the dirty wall. I wonder though how and if they paid somone for use of the wall? And if not is surgical cleaning against the law? Well anyway please check out the article for more detail and enjoy the images.

I am going to neard out on this post a bit. Many of my graphic designer friends even think I am neardy when it comes to fonts. Until recently I had many font posters hanging in my office. I also have more fonts than music on my computer, and I have a ton of music by the way.
So this is the deal, the Centro Pro series of fonts won the “Original Typeface of the Year” at the European Design Awards. The fonts was designed by Pannos Vassiliou.
This is all well and good, but I want to talk about something else. I want to talk about how awesome these 3 font series are! They are Centro Sans Pro, Centro Serif Pro, and Centro Slab Pro.

These fonts are what I hope to see everywhere in the coming years. Do not get me wrong I am a sucker for Helvetica, and will pull it out there when I have no idea how to start a Design. But these fonts are beutiful they are simple, legible, but you would never call them boring. They push to being modern, but you could easily see them as being modern invented in the moon shot era. I love these fonts, and they are a welcome addition in my top 20. Now I just have to scrounge pennies and justify spending the money on them. The font was developed and funded by Parachute and can be found here.

I can not take on new work at this time, as my schedule is most likely to full. If you do have a project you "must" have me for feel free to contact me.
